Living in Costa Mesa

Little history, ever since its incorporation in 1953, the city has flourished from a quaint farming community of 16,840 residents to a vibrant urban area. Today, it boasts one of the region’s biggest commercial clusters, with a thriving economy fueled by retail, commerce, and light manufacturing. Our parents moved to Costa Mesa in 1964, to be honest, I liked it as a farming area, fields of strawberries and tomatoes. Now, Costa Mesa is home to the two tallest skyscrapers in Orange County.

My sister and I grew up in Costa Mesa so of course so many great memories and is always going to be special to us. As everything grew around it, it has become a perfect little spot for work and play. We lived in Mesa Verde, as kids, I often hopped on my bike and took off to Newport Beach for the day, so fun. It has developed over the years but traces of it still remain. It is one of the older cities but so much to do.

Nowadays, one of the highlights of living in Costa Mesa is the thriving culinary and art scene. There are so many restaurants, cafes, and bars (our brother owned Patricks Pub in Costa Mesa until he sold it a couple of years ago) that offer delectable dishes and drinks to satisfy any craving. You can enjoy fine dining, street eats, or anything in between. The city is also host to several art fairs, galleries, and exhibitions that showcase local and international talents. Whether you’re a foodie or an art lover, Costa Mesa won’t disappoint you.

There is an area that is labeled South Coast Metro which has parts of Santa Ana encompassed in it. You might want to expand your borders if this area is what you are looking for.

However, If you are looking for newer homes, there are a few but if you want a little more room or something different, then I’d like to suggest looking at surrounding areas. Irvine perhaps?

Things to Do in Costa Mesa

Whether outdoors and indoors, there are always endless things to do here in Costa Mesa. House I grew up in is one of the photos (ha ha), someone else lives there now. It was up a little hill on a cult de sac with 2 houses on the street. Not too bad for being built in 1964.

Costa Mesa is completely immersed in the arts, dining, and entertainment. The great Pacific Amphitheatre where there is alway some great entertainment. Art? you got it! They hold the Orange County Fair with music, animals, rides, and food it always a good time. So much to embrace in the little unique spot. Shopping is abundant and South Coast Plaza one the largest shopping center in is the largest shopping center on the West Coast. And Segerstrom Center for the Arts.

But, Just because you’re living in the city doesn’t mean you’re far from nature either. I feel like Orange County is the Mecca for everything nature. Costa Mesa is minutes away from some of the best beaches in California where you can surf, swim, or just soak up the sun. You can also easily access hiking trails, parks, and nature reserves that offer breathtaking views and a chance to unwind from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. And, don’t forget Mesa Verde Golf Course. This city has so fabulous attractions.

You want Adventures? Well alrighty then, another great reason for Costa Mesa to be on your list. Costa Mesa is central to so many day or weekend trip getaways. Aside from local beach there are choices of additional beaches, lots of local nearby mountains? Beaches? WineriesSan Diego? LA? Plenty of adventures to add to add to your living experience. All anywhere from 20 minutes to an 1 1/2 away making endless things to do for day getaways!
